Who Is The Fraulein
Basically, we are a cottage bakery, created by Ana Fernatt and based in Chicago, that sells cookies, cakes, bars, loaves and other tempting sweet treats available for pick-up, delivery and shipping within Illinois. The desserts are a mix of classics, family recipes from my German, Midwestern and West Virginian heritage and fun experiments that turned out to be really delicious.
Philosophically, however…
The name Fräulein is a nod to independence and a playful rebellion against outdated labels. Traditionally used to refer to unmarried women, "Fräulein" once symbolized the limitations placed on women’s identities, tied to their marital status. But here, it takes on new life. It's a badge of honor—a cheeky wink to the past while boldly embracing the freedom, strength, and creativity of modern womanhood. The Fräulein is for the woman who charts her own course, who creates her own joy, and who knows that life’s sweetest moments often come from embracing the unexpected.
The Fräulein isn’t just about food—it’s about the joy of breaking the rules, of living life on your own terms, and of savoring every sweet bite along the way. It’s more than just a bakery; it’s a celebration of resilience, independence, and the sweetness of getting it done.
